I make a drill head (starts with 1 drill, expands to be many more as resources increase) attached to an advanced rotor, attached to pistons. It's meant to dig a straight down bore hole on a mineral deposit. Make a rover if you are on flat terrain or a vertical drilling rig if it has to fly. Several mining runs and your refineries will be busy for hours.The step change that the rotating drill head hits is. The drill end can handle a bit less that a full block depth of voxal drilling side on. If you piston pushes too fast then the drill might smash sideways into voxals and jam. But if you rotate too fast then the rig might clang out. Best to test the rig in survival using creative admin tools. Build static piston-plunger mining rigs, and use vehicles to transport the goods. I find doing shuttle runs between set-and-forget mining rigs far more pleasant and reliable than piloting a drill vehicle :) A mining rig actually requires very little power, both the drills and pistons only draw a 1-2 kW each.
